Karma Drubdey Palmo Chokyi Dingkhang

About Us

Khenchen Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche established Karma Drubdey Nunnery on a steep hillside above the village of Kuenga Rabten in 1972.

Our nunnery has grown over the decades, and we are now about 180 nuns living, studying, and practicing Buddhadharma in the Karma Kagyu tradition. We have our main monastic training, a shedra (monastic philosophical college), and retreat facilities. In addition, our young nuns attend the local school.

Our Relocation Project

Due to recent severe and reoccurring cracks in the buildings and subsequent geological reports that the land beneath the main nunnery is unstable due to its slope and formation, we are relocating our main nunnery 8 km away in Samchöling.

The new main nunnery will have housing for up to 214 nuns, classrooms, library, kitchen-dining hall, and a large temple.
